Sympathy and Condolence Cards

A sympathy card is the hardest one to write. Our sympathy and condolence cards come in boxed sets with envelopes and are blank inside, so the words can be yours. Name the person, say one true thing, and offer something specific. Three sentences is a complete card.

Every set has 12 cards and 12 envelopes, blank inside.

What to write

Ideas for the inside.

Start with their name, say one honest thing, and sign off warmly. Copy one of these or use it as a starting point.

Questions

Asked most often.

How soon should a sympathy card arrive?

Within two weeks of the news is customary, but a card that comes a month later is often the one that means the most. By then the calls have slowed down.

Should I mention the person who died by name?

Yes. Avoiding the name is a common mistake. Saying it plainly is a kindness.

Religious or secular wording?

Match the recipient, not yourself. If you are unsure, write warmly and leave scripture out. Our Christian sympathy sets are there for when you know it will be welcome.

Do the cards come blank inside?

Yes. Every Twigs Paper card is blank inside and comes with an envelope.

Can I buy a single card?

Our cards come in boxed sets of 12, and some designs also come in sets of 24. Most people keep the rest in a drawer for the next time they need one.
