Thank You Cards for Nurses

Thank You Cards for Nurses

Nurses hear thank you often, but a card is something they can keep, share with the team or pin up in the break room. Our boxed sets have 12 blank cards and 12 envelopes, so there is one for every nurse who helped. Below are thank you messages for nurses from patients and families.

Each set comes with an envelope for every card, and every card is blank inside.

When to send one

A twelve-hour shift deserves more than a text.

After a hospital stay

Thank the nurses who cared for you or your family member on the unit.

A new baby

A note for the labor and delivery, postpartum or NICU nurses who helped your family.

Hospice and end of life

A note to the nurses who cared for someone you love at the end of life.

Nurses Week

National Nurses Week runs May 6 to 12 each year. It is a good time for a card from a patient, a family or a manager.

What to write

Ideas for the inside.

Name the nurse if you can, mention one thing they did, and say what it meant to you.

More thank you messages

Example

Dear Maria,

Thank you for taking such good care of my dad during his week on the fourth floor. You always explained things clearly and made him laugh.

Our whole family is grateful.

With thanks, the Keller family

A greeting, one specific thing they did, a warm close, and your name.

Thank You Messages for Nurses

Use these thank you messages for nurses as they are, or change a few words so they fit your stay. If you know the nurse's name, use it.

How to Write a Thank You Note to a Nurse

  1. Use their name if you can. If you do not know it, address the card to the unit, such as "To the nurses on 4 West."
  2. Mention one thing they did. A kind word at 3 a.m., a clear explanation, or help for your family.
  3. Say what it meant. One sentence is enough.
  4. Sign with your name. Nurses care for many patients, so add the room number or dates if it helps them remember.

Many hospitals accept mail for staff. Address it to the nurse or the unit, such as "To the nurses on 4 West," at the hospital's main address. If you are not sure, call the hospital and ask.
