A wedding card is often read in the quiet days after the wedding and saved for years. You don't need to write a speech. Congratulate the couple, wish them well, and add one personal line.

Below are wedding wishes for a friend, a daughter or son, a sibling, a grandchild, niece or nephew, or a coworker, plus formal, religious and funny wedding messages, wishes for an elopement, and messages when you can't attend.

Money and Gifts in a Wedding Card

If you include a check or cash, mention it so the couple knows to look for it, for example "A little something for the honeymoon." Make checks out to one or both of them by name.

How to Sign a Wedding Card

"With love," "Warmly," "Best wishes," and "Cheers to you both" all work. For a family card, sign everyone's names or "The Garcia family."

Frequently Asked Questions

What do you write in a wedding card?

Congratulate the couple by name, add a personal line, and wish them a happy life together. "Congratulations! Wishing you a lifetime of love and happiness" is a good start.

What do you write in a wedding card if you don't know the couple well?

Keep it formal and warm: "Congratulations on your marriage. Wishing you both every happiness."

Should I say congratulations or best wishes?

Today, both are fine. Traditional etiquette said "best wishes" to the bride and "congratulations" to the groom. See best wishes or congratulations.
