Veterans Day is a day to thank the people who served in the U.S. armed forces. A card is a simple way to do it.

Below are Veterans Day quotes and messages for any veteran, for a husband or wife, for a parent or grandparent, for coworkers and from a business. Many of them also work as a thank you to a veteran at any time of year.

When Is Veterans Day 2026?

Veterans Day 2026 is Wednesday, November 11. Veterans Day is always observed on November 11, whatever day of the week it falls on. It marks the armistice that ended fighting in World War I on November 11, 1918.

Veterans Day vs. Memorial Day

Veterans Day honors everyone who has served in the U.S. armed forces, living or deceased. Memorial Day, the last Monday in May, honors those who died while serving. A Veterans Day card is a thank you to a living veteran in your life.

For Memorial Day cards, see our Memorial Day quotes and messages.

How to Write a Veterans Day Card

  1. Greet them by name.
  2. Thank them for their service. If you know their branch or years of service, mention it.
  3. Add one personal line. A story they told you or something you admire about them.
  4. Sign your name.

Example: "Grandpa, thank you for your service in the Navy and for every story you have shared about those years. We are proud of you today and every day. Love, Emma"
