When Is Easter?

Easter 2027 is Sunday, March 28. Palm Sunday is March 21 and Good Friday is March 26. The date changes every year because Easter falls on the first Sunday after the first full moon of spring.

How to Write an Easter Card

  1. Open with "Happy Easter." Or "He is risen!" for a religious card.
  2. Add a personal line. A plan to see them, a memory or a spring wish.
  3. Add a verse if they share your faith.
  4. Sign with love.

Example: "Happy Easter, Aunt Carol! We are looking forward to your lamb cake and the egg hunt in your backyard. See you Sunday. Love, the Martins"

Good Friday Bible Verses

Good Friday remembers the crucifixion of Jesus. These verses are quoted from the New International Version (NIV).

  • "But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed." (Isaiah 53:5)
  • "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8)
  • "Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends." (John 15:13)
  • "I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." (Galatians 2:20)

Palm Sunday Bible Verses

Palm Sunday, the Sunday before Easter, marks Jesus arriving in Jerusalem.

  • "They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting, 'Hosanna!' 'Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!' 'Blessed is the king of Israel!'" (John 12:13)
  • "The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted, 'Hosanna to the Son of David!' 'Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!' 'Hosanna in the highest heaven!'" (Matthew 21:9)
